Cognitive Assessments
All Blume Psychology cognitive assessments are Gold Standard and meet NICE guidelines.
What is the assessment process for a cognitive assessment with Blume Psychology?
With all potential assessments, the first stage is an initial consultation with Dr Laura Alcock, our Head Clinician. In this session she will gather a developmental history and make recommendations for you going forward. This session typically lasts for 50 minutes and is charged at £150, though for more complex cases she may request an 80 minute consultation at a cost of £225.
If the consultation relates to a child patient, Initial consultations are typically just with parents if the child is of primary school age, with children of secondary school age typically asked to attend with their parent or guardian. Preferably we always prefer to see our clients personally with a face to face consultation at our therapy room in Milton Keynes, though online sessions are available on request.
If a cognitive is indicated from the initial consultation and you wish to go ahead then the assessment costs £650 and is made up of the following parts:
Client to attend a face to face 90 minute appointment with Dr Alcock which involves
Third Party consultation, usually through school or alternative provision.
Administration and completion of psychometrics questionnaires.
On the completion of all of the parts of the assessment, the assessment team meets to discuss findings of all the appointments to agree on assessment outcomes and recommendations. Dr Alcock then prepares a comprehensive report summarising the results of the assessment (s), as well as any diagnoses (if indicated). This report can be expected within six to eight weeks from the start of the assessment, though we aim for sooner.
We offer an optional feedback phone call or zoom call with Dr Alcock to deliver a summary of the findings of the assessment.
