What families tell us
We're grateful for the trust families and professionals place in us. Here's some of what they've shared.
“We contacted Blume Psychology after we thought our daughter may have ASC — we were told the wait time for NHS support may be at least 18 months and felt that we needed an answer sooner, so we could ensure we were giving her the right support. I would highly recommend Blume Psychology to anyone looking for a thorough, professional and efficient service. We felt in good hands from the very start, the initial appointment was very relaxed and Dr Alcock spent a lot of time getting to know us and what our concerns were, she then spent time explaining the process and what information would go into the assessment. The assessment itself was really straightforward and we were kept up to date throughout. The report was incredibly detailed and had lots of recommendations and links to materials to help us support our daughter. Dr Alcock and her team are incredibly professional and friendly, nothing ever seems like too much to trouble. We have also used Dr Alcock post diagnosis for support within our family as we navigate the new diagnosis and the impact it has on our family and again the support has been fantastic, my eldest daughter loves her sessions with Dr Alcock and gives her a real safe place to go and talk through any worries or concerns she may have. I cannot thank Blume Psychology enough — they have made a huge difference to our family!”
“Laura became my therapist at a very difficult point in my life, when I had just been diagnosed as autistic and was struggling with many problems including self-worth and understanding my gender identity. Laura got me through those initial very hard months and then worked with me to develop my own coping mechanisms. Without Laura's help I would almost certainly not have achieved as much as I have with both my work and personal life. Prior to seeing Laura I could not see a future and avoided thinking about it. I am now making plans, living my life and able to be present for my family in a way which would have seemed impossible a few years ago. I haven't lost my autistic identity, but I have learned how to use it and the strength it gives me to move me forwards.”
“As a family we have been seeing Dr Alcock for a couple of years. She took the time to get to know us and let us naturally find our way to answering our own questions. Both my son and I say she has a way of letting us realise we know the answer, she just calmly supports and directs us along the path. If you are after a non-judgemental, supportive clinician to help either your child or you I would highly recommend Dr Alcock. She has truly advocated for our family, has an amazing way of explaining things to both patients and other professionals. Without her on our side and by our side these past few years I'm not sure where we would be. There are times when I can hear her in my head saying trust yourself and it has got me through moments of doubt.”
